This is an easygoing ride to Kew Gardens to enjoy an evening of cycling at Summer Cycle –
www.kew.org/kew-gardens/whats-on/summer-cycle. IMPORTANT: you must buy your ticket on their website before you join this ride. On the way back, you have the choice of riding back with the group, or taking the Overground from Kew Gardens back to Willesden Junction, but either way, bring a set of front and rear lights to get you home.
Kew doesn't normally allow cycling in their gardens, but on certain days of Summer they open their gates for bikes. On this date, the gates will be open for cyclists from 17.30 till 20.30 and the plan is for us to stay there for the duration. This ride is approximately an hour/6.5 miles each way and doesn't consider the cycling inside Kew.
We go at the pace of the slowest through mainly quiet roads and cycling lanes. Once at Kew, we can split or stick together. Bringing a picnic is highly advisable as the queues for food and drinks can be very long!
Please only sign up if you can commit to come. You’re also welcome to join us at Kew later, but please bear in mind you may not be able to ride back with us if this ride is fully booked.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Please make sure you read Summer Cycle’s essential information and rules for the evening. *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Make sure that your tyres are pumped and you have a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you get Covid-19 or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains (Kew does not offer refunds). Dress for the weather and bring a rain coat just in case.
