A ride to the beautiful Stanlake Park Wine estate, via country lanes, some roads and several cycleways - including the newly-opened Link Road from Heathlands! The route is not too hilly, although there are a few ups and downs. From St. Sebastians, we will head along Honey Hill and cross over onto the cycleway along the New Link Road to get to Montague Park. We'll then head up Oak Avenue and ride via Monks Allley to Binfield, Beenham's Heath and Waltham St. Lawrence, before taking some pretty lanes to Stanlake Vineyard, where we can have coffee/tea (or even wine!) from their cafe/wine bar (after 16 miles). Our return trip will be on country lanes through Hurst, Winnersh and along the new distributor road to Wokingham, then back through Montague Park.
We will leave from the car park of St. Sebastian's Memorial Hall (at junction of Honey Hill and Nine Mile Ride) at 9.30 - otherwise I am happy to meet anyone at 9.10 at Wellington Sports Centre if you prefer (by the entrance from the Wellington Business Park.) Please message me to let me know if you want to meet at Wellington. There is free parking at both venues. On the return journey - there is also the option to turn off and go home along Ludgrove if you wish.
You must please wear a properly-fitting cycle helmet and bring a bottle of water, card for payment at the cafe and a bike lock if you have one. PLEASE NOTE: The cafe accepts card payments only.
Please check your bike before coming out - especially tyres inflated correctly, both brakes working and oil on your chain. Please bring a spare inner tube and anything else you may need for repairs en route.
First-timers welcome!
