This is a long ride but it is on mainly traffic free or quiet roads. We will follow the Waterlink Way to Greenwich with the intention of walking through the foot tunnel to the Isle of Dogs. We will follow the Thames path as far as Canary Wharf and then take a pretty route through Shadwell Basin and Wapping Woods, along the Ornamental canal to the Hermitage Riverside garden and its Blitz memorial. From there it is a short ride to St Katharine’s dock where we hope to see the Galeon Andalucia. We will return along the C3, which is a segregated cycle route, as far as London bridge. We will cross London bridge which is also segregated, and have a coffee/lunch stop at Southwark cathedral café. We will follow the C4 back to Deptford before picking up the Waterlink way back to Cator Park.
If the foot tunnel lifts are out of order, we will take the DLR across the river so please bring oyster card/contactless/freedom pass.
As mentioned, this is a longer ride than usual, so you should be able to maintain a steady pace throughout so we keep to the timings referred to in the information details.
Please call the leader, Jacqui Turner on 07456840924, if you have booked but there are problems on the day.
