Join me on a night-time adventure for St David's day, and experience the Elan Trail at night (hopefully with some stars...)
We will start from Nantgwllt church and the Foel Tower, along the Elan Trail past Penygarreg dam and to Craig Goch dam. We will go a little way along the track by Craig Coch reservoir to get the best views of the night sky across the reservoir (clear skies not guaranteed!), and return either along the trail or on the road if its quiet.
Optional go on the Nantgwyllt mtb blue trail when we get back for those brave enough!
What you will need for this ride:
• A bike in good working order suitable for easy off-road terrain (mtb, hybrid, gravel)
• If bringing an e-bike make sure it’s well charged – batteries don’t last as long in cold weather
• A bike lights mounted on handlebars suitable for off-road riding - recommended minimum 500 lumens
• A helmet mounted light or head torch attached to helmet, recommended minimum 300 lumens
• Red rear light attached to bike.
• An extra, less bright light or torch for off the bike exploring or emergencies and as back up.
• Make sure all your lights are charged or have adequate battery life.
• Warm layers, it will get colder as it gets darker!
• Snacks and water, perhaps a hot drink
• Charged mobile phone, perhaps with a stargazing app; recommended is ’Stellarium’
I will carry spare lights for emergencies

There are toilets at Craig Goch reservoir (sadly no cafe!)
This ride is weather-dependent - if the forecast is too wet or cold, I will postpone for safety considerations, but will keep all participants inormed.
