This is the second of two Wednesday evening mountain bike rides in south east Sheffield, guided by volunteer British Cycling Level 2 mountain bike leaders. The aim is to enable riders to enjoy some of the best local trails at a social pace.
The gpx file on this page gives an idea of the route but is for illustration purposes only. The exact route will be chosen on the night to meet the needs of the group.
The ride starts in the village of Harthill, in South Yorkshire, and follows lanes, bridleways, wooded single track and the Rother Valley trails. Mountain bikes with good grippy tyres are required. Slick tyres will NOT be suitable. Riders on electric mountain bikes with suitable tyres are welcome but this is NOT a ride for hybrid bikes. Bring lights if you have them for the homeward stretch as it will be getting dusky.
• All riders must wear a helmet and have a safe functioning mountain bike, as specified by British Cycling Insurance. Bike safety checks will take place before the ride.
• All riders should carry a snack and a drink as well as a waterproof jacket.
• Please bring a spare inner tube but don’t worry if you don’t know how to fit it.
The terrain is uneven with some bumpy climbs and several stony descents. Participants should ride within their confidence level and should get off and walk any sections that appear too challenging.
Please talk to the leaders if you have any concerns. We look forward to meeting you.
