Abbey Gardens,
The South Downs National Park Family Ride gives you the chance to ride a traffic-free cycle circuit as many times as you want in an hour, at a relaxed pace that suits you. The ride is open to all ages and abilities and the 1km circuit around the city centre is easy to ride. Taking place between 10:00am and 11:00am the Family Ride will mark the opening of the Winchester Criterium & Cyclesfest before the racing starts on the circuit.
Families and friends are encouraged to register in advance to secure a place as numbers on the circuit are limited for this popular ride. Signing up on the day may be possible for a few but cannot be guaranteed. All participants need to sign on in Abbey Gardens from 08:30am on the day to receive a wristband granting access to the circuit.
‘Share the Space’ is the theme of the Family Ride in celebration of how all users can enjoy the highway and path network throughout the South Downs National Park in a courteous and friendly manner. South Downs Cycle Ambassadors will be on hand during the ride ensuring peace of mind and safety for all cyclists. After the ride and throughout the day South Downs National Park Rangers and Staff will be in Abbey Gardens with a range of family activities and information about the National Park.
A host of other activities will also be available in Abbey Gardens and The Broadway including roller racing, face painting and bike powered games.
