Sirhowy Valley in the Spring

We will be starting by Moginie James Estate Agents on Cyncoed Road. Plenty of parking on side roads. We will be crossing Cardiff to Rhwbina, Whitchurch and joining the Taff Trail near Forest Farm.

We will be continuing up the Taff Trail to Caerphilly. After Caerphilly and Bedwas there is a steep climb up Pandy Lane towards Maesycymmer and then descend towards Sirhowy valley on traffic free trails. Then onto B road to Risca and then onto Rogerstone and Bassleg. We will be stopping at Cleppa Park for a late lunch and then come back through Marshfield, St Mellons and climb up to Pontprennau through the new Bridge Estates. We return down through Pontprennau back to Cyncoed.

A lovely loop through the lanes and trails from Cardiff to Caerphilly, Maesycymmer and onto the Sirhowy Valley, with a cafe stop at Cleppa Park. This is a challenging ride with over 2,500 ft of climbing, but the views are worth it!

We will be cycling on traffic free trails, B roads, 1 busy road and smaller country roads. This bike is suitable for all types of bikes.

We will be stopping at a café two thirds of the way round the ride, in Cleppa Park.

Please wear a helmet and bring waterproofs, and a snack
