Starting from - The start point is by the 'Just as you are' tea cottage on Beach Road. There is parking along Beach Road as it runs by a little wall. If not, there is space on the neighbouring roads (Gorse Cover Road seems to have some laybys). There are toilets along the road towards the bakery. If you would like to find it with What Three Words then the parking is at ///surcharge.skin.yards, BS35 4PQ

The ride starts by the sea at Severn Beach. We then head out of the village along a quiet lane and pick up the cycle path that will take us through the Avonmouth distribution park (prettier than it sounds) and over the M49. Then we carry on following the cycle path to Berwick Lane. We cycle along the lane for about 2.5 miles until we head back towards Avonmouth before going under and then over the motorways. Then it's more cycle path as we head to and over the Avonmouth bridge. Once over the bridge we skirt around the edge of the huge storage area where all the new cars sit waiting to be sold. Then it's through a 'wildlife corridor' and onto Sheepway for a short way before heading into Portishead Ecology Park. We finish with a little wiggle through a couple of residential streets before arriving at the marina.
After a rest stop, we head back out of Portishead a slightly different way before joining the outbound route just by the ecology park. The route is then the same until we get back into the distribution park. From here, we take a slightly shorter route back using a mix of paths to return to Severn Beach.

A nice scenic route with lots of variety along the way

About 80% of the route is traffic free and mostly tarmac. The rest is quiet country lanes. All of the route is suitable for all bikes. There are no big hills but there is a climb to get to the top of the Avonmouth bridge.

We will stop at the marina in Portishead where there are several coffee shops to choose from.

Please wear a helmet and bring along some money and a lock for the rest stop. It is also a good idea to carry a spare tube just in case.

We never leave anyone behind
