Starting point – Seaham Hall Beach Car Park SR7 7AF What3words -
https://w3w.co/pays.crown.visionFree car parking is available at the car park.
Starting in the car park we follow the coastal road via the path towards Ryhope, turning just before going under the rail bridge and follow the cliff top path to Ryhope. This section of the route is bumpy and has a steep Stoney downhill section, however the sea views are awesome.
In Ryhope we join the bottom section of the NCN 1 next to the disused Ryhope station Footbridge and follow the route upwards to South Hetton. Here we join the nearly finished refurbished Sustrans/Durham Council NCN1 section and follow it downhill to Dawdon and the Seaham weaving through the streets and shared paths back to the car park.
On this route we will be cycling over a variety of different terrains including roads, quiet roads, cycle paths, shared paths, muddy tracks, muddy puddles, wet leaves etc. Therefore, this ride is only suitable for Hybrids or Mountain bikes.
It’s now spring cycling weather, PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY it can get cold on an evening.
REMEMBER TO BRING – Bike Lights, warm gloves, wind/raincoat.
