Leaving Romsey Rapids we head down quiet Lee Lane to the Redbridge flyover and cross the river at Eling. We head into the New Forest towards Applemore and head to Hythe Pier. We will grab a coffee here then get the Hythe ferry to Southampton where we follow the cycle path back to the Redbridge roundabout up Lee Lane and back.

The ferry runs 10 past every hour and costs £7 for a single ticket, bikes are let on at the discretion of the Master on the day (if we are denied (unlikely) we will return the way we came).

Hythe Pier has the oldest continually operating pier train in the world, having remained unchanged since the 1920’s. (We will have to walk our bikes along the pier).

Please bring cash for the ferry, dress for the weather and bring helmet and puncture repair kit. It is a bit difficult to estimate the exact duration of the ride due to how long we wait for the ferry, the ferry ride is 15 mins.

We go at the slowest pace.
