Starting at the Harbour View Car park in Roker, the route takes us along the seafront, through Roker Park and then join the shared paths, tracks and quite road of NCN1 to just before Marsden Grotto.
Here we cross the road head back to Roker following quiet roads and tracks towards the new Way of Learning/Bede’s Way trails, along the bridle path running alongside the metro line to Boldon Metro Station. We join Moor Lane which has been recently changed into a cycle lane all the way to Sunderland Road. Here we cycle through Cut Throat Dene, follow quiet streets through Mere Knolls Cemetery, on to Dykeman’s Road and then to the seafront to follow the remaining seafront to Roker.
On this route we will be cycling over a variety of different terrains including roads, quiet roads, cycle paths, bridle paths, shared paths, if its been raining then expect muddy tracks, muddy puddles, wet leaves etc. Therefore, this ride is suitable for Hybrids, Mountain bikes or gravel bikes.
