Ride to Pennington Hall Park and Byrom Hall Woods

This ride will leave Robin Park and follow the River Douglas to the Leeds and Liverpool canal Leigh branch to Leigh Bridge where we leave the towpath and follow the new cycle lanes to Pennington Hall Park for our refreshment at at the Caffeina cafe.

The return journey will pass Pennington Flash and Lowton Sailing Club on our way to Byrom Hall Woods. From there we go through Crankwood before re-joining the towpath at Dover Lock and then cycling back to Robin Park.

Barriers:-
Bamfurlong Bridge - steps up/down to the road bridge.
Dover Lock - low stepover horse stile
Plank Lane lift bridge - low stepover horse stile

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

A ride to the best maintained parks in Leigh.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, cycle lanes, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at the Caffeina cafe in Pennington Hall Park.

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets should be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
