Ride to Irlam Station (from Wigan)

The ride will leave Robin Park and follow the River Douglas, Leeds and Liverpool Canal Leigh Branch to Pennington Flash Country Park then passes Leigh Fire Station and goes under the East Lancs Road before passing Leigh Golf Club and Partridge Lakes. After passing through Croft and Locking Stumps we link up with the Irlam and Cadishead cycleway to Irlam Station were we should meet the Leigh riders.

The return route will be via Port Salford Greenway and the canal towpath back to Robin Park.

Barriers:-
There are a few chicane type barriers on the ride.
Plank Lane lift bridge - low stepover horse stile
Dover Lock - low stepover horse stile
Bamfurlong Bridge - steps up/down to road bridge.

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

A new route to Irlam Station to meet up with the Leigh riders on Bank Holiday Monday.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at Irlam Station.

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets must be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
