This ride will leave Trencherfield Mill and follow the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath and climb up some of the locks of the Wigan Flight to Whelley Loop Line which takes us to Hall Lane. From Hall Lane we cycle through the woods past the Model Railway and the 15 inch Narrow Gauge Railway (under redevelopment) to Haigh Stableyard where we will have a refreshment stop.

The return journey will take us past the Balcarres Arms to Tuckers Hill Brow then follow the tracks and trails down through Arley Golf Course to Red Rock where we take to the road downhill to Chorley Road then to Lurdin Lane before crossing Wigan Road and joining the New Multi User path to Millikens at Beech Hill. We cut through the estate to emerge near Greens carpets and then cross the River Douglas and the railway line and then follow Stadium Way back to Trencherfield Mill.

Barriers -
Bottom lock (wheelie)
Brittania Bridge (wheelie or bypass with the ebikes)
Rose Bridge (wheelie or bypass with the ebikes)
Whelley Loop Line (2 extra long - most bikes fit)

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

A ride through the Plantations and nearby countryside.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at Haigh Stableyard.

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets should be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
