Ride to Haigh Hall and Holy Grounds

The ride will follow the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath up the locks of the Wigan Flight to Haigh Hall and Mowpin Lodge. Then we have a long downhill ride through Haigh Plantations to the River Douglas and join the shared path to Swinley flood zone. We go up Coppull Lane and through Mesnes Park to Holy Grounds at Wigan Parish Church for refreshments. After refreshments we return to Robin Park via the Wallgate cycle lanes and shared paths.

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be posted on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders before the start of the ride if you do not want your photo taken.

The is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails. There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments so please bring drinks and snacks or a credit/debit card to buy them. New riders are more than welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind. Helmets must be worn on this ride.
