This ride will leave Robin Park and follow the River Douglas to the Leeds and Liverpool canal and climb up some of the locks of the Wigan Flight to Whelley Loop Line which takes us to Hall Lane. From Hall Lane we cycle past the Cherry Gardens to Beech Hill and through to the Standish Mineral Line. From there we will be on quiet country lanes to Eccleston Delph.

The return journey will be on quiet country lanes through to Parbold where we join the canal towpath and cycle back to Robin Park.

The barriers on this ride are as follows:-

Wigan bottom lock - wheelie
Brittania Bridge lock - wheelie or bypass with the ebikes
Rose Bridge lock - wheelie or bypass with the ebikes
Whelley Loop Line - 2 x extra long (most bikes fit)
Whelley Loop Line -1 step over horse stile

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

A ride to a local watersports centre using 3 of the main multi user paths which are the Whelley Loop Line extension, the Beech Hill to Standish route and Standish Mineral Line.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, multi user paths, quiet roads and short stretches of busy roads.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at the Eccleston Delph cafe. www.thedelph.com

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets should be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
