Ride to Chisnall Hall via the Boatyard Bus Cafe

This ride will leave Robin Park and follow the River Douglas to join the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath and climb up some of the locks of the Wigan Flight to Whelley Loop Line which takes us to Hall Lane. From Hall Lane we cycle past Haigh Hall and the Balcarres Arms to Tuckers Hill Brow then follow the tracks and trails to Adlington where we join the towpath to the Boatyard Bus Cafe for refreshments.

We then take to bridleways, farm tracks and minor roads towards Coppull and Chisnall Hall Nature Reserve. After crossing the Nature Reserve and the M6 motorway we follow Mossy Lea Road to the Standish Mineral Line, cycle paths to Beech Hill, Cherry Gardens, Hall Lane, Whelley Loop Line and back down the Wigan Flight to Robin Park.

There are a few barriers and gates to negotiate on this ride.

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at the newly refurbished Boatyard Bus Cafe.

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets must be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
