Starting point

London

A ride to Richmond Park to burn some of the Christmas weight. This is not a leisure ride: we will go for a single clockwise round of Richmond Park which will involve a leg-burning hill and some speed! Expect average speeds of 10-11mph – slower on roads where safety is crucial, but faster around the park.

We start off going up Old Oak Lane in the direction of Wormwood Scrubs, zig-zagging through mostly quiet roads of Shepherds Bush and Ravenscourt Park until we reach the Thames and Hammersmith Bridge, where we will need to dismount to cross. We get to Richmond Park via Roehampton Gate. After 3/4 of the park and going over the toughest hill of Richmond, Broomfield, we stop at the café in Pembridge Lodge for lunch, and also to enjoy the beautiful views.

We leave the park through Sheen Gate in the direction of Mortlake, and carry on via Acton, taking the cycling path along the A40 and back via Harlesden. We aim to be back at Roundwood Park by 3.30pm.

If you find this ride fully booked, join the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, only book a space if you are sure you can join.

IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you have Covid-19 or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *Please be advised that we video record our rides which are later published on YouTube.
