Starting point

London
NW1 5RU

You start this route on Baker Street outside Boots pharmacy. Heading off towards Paddington, you briefly join the Grand Union Canal towards Little Venice. Here you can find the start of the Regent's Canal. You will encounter a one mile section of canal that is closed to cyclists so you need to use the roads. You'll re-join the canal to pass London Zoo and Regent's Park then continue towards Camden Lock Market.

Arriving at Camden Lock, you will attempt to solve British Cycle Quest BCQ124 which asks "On the finger posts (two, one at each end of the lock) in the middle of the canal at Hampstead Road Lock, what are the distances to Liverpool and Little Venice?".

After solving that quest and briefly walking through the market, you will re-join the canal to return passing through Regent's Park to Baker Street station, avoiding the York Bridge closure.

The Mayor of London has banned non-folded e-bikes on trains since 31 March 2025.

All participants are expected to bring:
• A bike in good working order with tyres pumped to the correct pressure. Please conduct a pre-ride safety check on your bike.
• A cycle helmet.
• Carry at least a spare inner tube, pump and tyre levers.
• Dress for the expected cold dry sunny weather.
• A drink as there is no refreshment stop.
