From the Orbital car park we cycle out along a bus gate road then on estate roads towards the dual carriageway of Thamesdown Way. We join the cycle path alongside Thamesdown Way we cross this dual carriageway at a busy junction with lights joining National Cycle route 45. We continue on the 45 crossing 3 junctions, before diverting off the 45 through other paths and quiet estate roads to rejoin the 45 for a short section to the Blunsdon railway bridge traffic lights. After the lights there is another short section of road before we turn right into a closed road. After about 1.5 miles we leave the 45 and ride on quiet roads to the edge of Ashton Keynes, before turning right and heading towards Cerney Wick. We turn left in the village to take us to the Spine Road and ride along this busier road to the Lake 6 complex for refreshments.

Our return route takes us back along the Spine Road and down to Cerney Wick, before turning left through the village to join the old Roman road, Ermin Street. At Latton we turn off and take the old road into Cricklade, then back to Swindon on the closed road following the 45 back the way we came to the car park.

An evening ride to the pizzeria in the Cotswold Water Park, passing by the local heritage steam railway out to Ashton Keynes and Cerney Wick to the Lake 6 complex containing the pizzeria and bars.

Most of the route is on quieter traffic roads. There is a short section on cycle paths and a closed road too. The route is pretty flat.

We will stop at Lake 6 in the Water Park for refreshments.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going plus money for refreshments at the stop. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days. As this is an evening ride please bring lights for your bike in case we are delayed and arrive back after sunset.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
