Pedal to Heaton Park

We ride on tarmac and on trails. Although it is an urban ride, we can enjoy riding along the Irwell and the ship canal and going through two parks. After Kersal Wetland, be prepared to go up a steep but short hill! If you struggle to go up hill, you can always push your bike as we all wait and regroup at the top! Don't let this to worry you, though!

This is a varied ride to the beautiful Heaton Park! We will ride to the city centre using designated bikes lanes until we meet the Irwell river in Salford. From there, we will go to Kersal Wetlands, mainly following the river. After that, we will be on small roads to the park. Hopefully we can enjoy some lovely autumn coulours!

Although some sections are traffic-free, we will also be on roads. It is essential that you feel confident in traffic. This ride is not suitable for thin tyres. This is a longish ride, over 20 miles, but we have short stops on the way to take photos, have some water etc. You need to have a level of fitness to ride that distance ,

We will stop at a café in the park.

Please wear a helmet (no helmet no ride) , bring a bike lock, bike lights, inner tube and snacks/money for the cafe.
