This is a scenic ride along the River Taf and out to Swanbridge and Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and returning via the Ely Trail. We will cycle down the Taf Trail, over the Millenium Bridge, climb up towards Sully Road, which will take us to Swanbridge Bay, stopping to take a view of the sea. From there we'll head towards Cosmeston Lakes. We'll stop there (approx 30 min), for a snack/coffee and toilets are also available. Then we'll set off to Penarth along the old railway track, going through Penarth, descending the "wiggles", before making our way back to Pedal Power via the Ely Trail and urban roads.
We will be cycling on a mixture of urban roads, country lanes, grit trails and some traffic free shared cycle paths. There are a few hills, both up and down, so you should be confident with using your gears and brakes. It is tarmac most of the way, but there are grit trail stretches (sometimes wet) on the Ely Trail and a short section of grit in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park.
There will be a stop at Cosmeston Lakes, cafe and toilets available.
We never leave anyone behind :)
