Beginners Nicky Line Adventures

Starting point

Starting at the Dacorum Cycle Hub next to the Grovehill/Woodhall farm Adventure Playground. There is free parking but please remember there is a height barrier at the beginning of the road.

This is a very easy-going ride, for those who are new to cycling or just returning to cycling. We will ride at the pace that is best suited to everyone in the group, usually between 5-7 mph. As leaders we will ensure that no one is left behind, so that all the group can have an enjoyable ride.
We will be riding approximately 6 miles on the traffic free cycle track, called ‘The Nicky Line, heading towards Redbourne. The Nicky Line is a disused railway line that is now accessible for cycling and walking. This beautiful, shady track has been unspoilt with tarmac so can be a little bumpy in places. However it is a perfect riding area for anyone wanting to get back into riding with a small group.
We will have a choice of places to stop for cake and a chat, either in Redbourne itself or on our return to the Hemel Cycle Hub, depending on how our ride is progressing.

Please remember to bring,
Two spare innertubes for your bike, even if you do not know how to change them, someone in the group will, as well as the appropriate tools (tyre levers)
A waterbottle with a drink in, riding can be very thirsty work.
Cycle helmet, for your own safety.
Appropriate clothing for the weather
