The View Tube, The Greenway, Marshgate Lane, London
Why should Healthy Rides always be Southwark ones? On this ride we want to see what it would be like if there were Newham Healthy Rides!
Although the View Tube cafe is closed at the moment, we will still will be meeting there for this ride. If you want coffee beforehand, there is a cafe at the London Aquatic Centre is close by and will be open from 9 am.
We start off by cycling along the popular Lee Valley route to the White Water Centre. We will then continue along the towpath on to Broxbourne and Dobbs Weir, where we will stop at the Fish and Eeels pub for lunch. We will then return using a different route a short distance to the east - the NCN 1 route. This cycle route runs from Dover to Shetland, but on this occasion, we will only be using a short stretch of it. We will seek out the famous NCN 1 bridge, which we only know about because we read it on the internet - this is a bridge where we will have to dismount as it only has 5' headroom. We then return to the View Tube to check out when it is going to be open again.
