The View Tube, The Greenway, Marshgate Lane, London
STOP PRESS!! A brand new cycle path has been opened up connecting Cody Wilds with Cody Dock and work to create a new small park called Essex Wharf, near the Bow Creek Ecology Park, is at an advanced stage.
This is a parks ride with a difference - an opportunity to explore London's new riverside walk in the making - what will eventually be a new continuous walking and cycling route connecting Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to the River Thames and Royal Docks (see http://queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk/~/media/lldc/leaway/leaway%20%20primer%20screen.pdf).
We think this will be of interest not just to Newham residents but also to those who live in the boroughs that surround Newham.
We will be cycling to see Three Mills Green, the Cody Wilds and then Cody Dock itself, whose cafe has just opened for the season. We be taking a look at the path which has been built to connect Cody Dock with Canning Town Station, and will discover the tortuous route that takes us to the Bow Creek Ecology Park, which is tucked away in one of the bends of lower Lee River. We then go through East India Dock to Trinity Buoy Wharf and return to the View Tube by cycling through Keir Hardie Recreation Ground, Star Lane Park, Memorial Recreation Ground, West Ham Park and Forest Lane Park.
