Start from Fisherrow Harbour at 11:30, where there are free car parks and public toilets
--> Short stretch along the promenade eastward
--> Path along River Esk southward
--> Inveresk, a conservation village in East Lothian
--> Pinkie and Levenhall
--> Riding past the hidden gems of Prestongrange Museum and then Preston Tower & Doocot (where we may enter for a brief visit and snacks/ drinks stop)
--> Toilet stop at Prestonpans Public Toilets
--> Return from Civic Square on High Street, Prestonpans, through the scenic coastal John Muir Way
--> Morrison's Haven and Musselburgh Lagoons, where we may visit the newly open birdwatching hides
--> Riding past Fisherrow Harbour, we are ending at Newhailes Estate for a brief visit and enjoying optional end-of-ride coffee/tea at Newhailes Cafe

Road types you'll be riding on: Mostly tarmac or well paved paths - A mixture of cycle paths and mostly quiet roads

Stops: 1/ Possible photographing stops: Prestongrange Museum, Preston Tower & Doocot, and the scenic stretch along the coastal John Muir Way around Musselburgh. 2/ Toilet stops: Public toilets at the start - Fisherrow Harbour, and near the midpoint - Prestonpans. 3/ Snacks stop at Preston Tower & Doocot, and optional coffee gathering at the endpoint

Bring with you: Helmet highly advised, at least one spare inner tube suitable for your bike and relevant tools for mechanics, appropriate clothing and gloves to keep warm, snacks/ drinking water, front and rear bike lights in case you may linger on your way home (sunset time est.: 16:19), and cash/card if you fancy a coffee/tea at the end.
