This Breeze bike ride is a mountain bike ride, brought to you by a qualified Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leader. To deliver rides as per the remit of Fundamentals of MTB Award, we also hold a valid 2 day outdoor first aid certificate.

There is a mixture of terrain with a short road section. There will be gravel, probably mud, some roots, small rocks, a water crossing and a steep gravel hill where you may wish to walk. The aim is to have a fun social ride and gain confidence. The ride can be adapted to suit participants. There are options to make the ride longer or shorter. It is expected that some or all of us will need to walk short sections. We will stop at regular intervals along the route and can stop at the Deri Inn for a cold drink at the end of the ride.

All participants must wear a helmet. Wear clothing and shoes suitable for wet, muddy conditions and gloves. Bring a spare inner tube to fit your bike, a drink and snacks. It is a good idea to wear a thin long sleeved top and trousers as some of the paths can be a little overgrown this time of year (having said this I will likely be in shorts!). Bring a waterproof jacket if there is any chance of rain. A small rucksack is useful.

The ride will start at the Deri Inn. We climb on the road to the Wenallt where we take on a gravel climb followed by a gravel path to take the river crossing. We then climb a gravel path to Rhiwbina Hill to join the road for a short section. We enter Forest Ganol and ride a gravel track to exit taking the road to the Forest Fawr car park. We enter the woods riding down a long descent to Tongwynlais then returning to the start via the road.

This is a lovely off road route in North Cardiff. It is suitable for all abilities and can be ridden on MTB or gravel bike.

Most of the route will be on trails, with some sections on roads.

We especially welcome newbies!
