Lovely scenic route that is mainly off road or on quiet country lanes. You will pass some of Wigan's famous landmarks which starts with the famous Brick Community Stadium - home to Wigan Rugby League Club and Wigan Athletic Football Club. You then move on to pass Wigan Pier made famous by George Orwell / and George Formby. Next you will go uphill passing one of Britains largest set
of locks but we'll only be doing part of them before turning onto the Whelley Loop line and into the grounds of Haigh Hall Country Park where we'll climb through the plantation to the hall for our main stop for refreshments and meet up with the other local groups for a chat and a get together.
There will be free mulled wine and mince pie on offer. Always a good turn out and chance to catch up with people.
Fancy dress is optional but positively encouraged.
The journey back we'll rejoin the canal heading to Top Lock and a straight downhill back doing the complete flight of locks and back to Robin Park.

A short ride from Robin Park up to Haigh Hall and back

Mainly a traffic free route

We'll have short stops on route and a longer stop a Haigh Hall for anyone wanting to get food a brew

Helmets must be worn and people are advised to bring spare inner tubes, pump, basic tools also cash/card if wanting to buy refreshments

First-timers welcome!
