Leaving Melrose and cycling out towards Tweedbank via Darnick, we will join the Black Path and head along traffic free Boleside, then on towards Selkirk crossing the Ettrick Water and along the A7 cycle path to Selkirk. Passing through Selkirk we will take the A707 Linglie Road to Yair where we cross the Tweed to follow “the Rink” before taking a left back towards Gala, entering the outskirts along Elm Row, we will then head left along Church Street and the Abbotsford Road before a left turn and a down hill to Netherdale. From there we will retrace our route to the Black Path and back to Melrose via the Waverley Road.

20 mile ride from Melrose out to Selkirk, and on to Gala via Yair, then back to Melrose via Tweedbank

Mainly quiet roads, some traffic free, and cycle paths. Short sections on roads through Melrose and Galashiels. Some gentle climbs.

Stopping at regular intervals to regroup, catch our breath, take photos, have a drink etc. Refreshments at the end of the ride in Melrose.

Usual mandatory helmets, tools and spare inner tubes for your bike, a drink, dress for the weather. Change for cafe stop.

We never leave anyone behind
