Starting point

West Yorkshire

This is a shorter, 24 mile ride, though with 2,400 feet of climbing across the moors surrounding Keighley going in an anti-clockwise direction from Hirst Wood. The route is mainly on road but with traffic free sections along Higher Coach Road, through St Ives and on the canal from Bingley to Hirst Wood.
For a change we go along Higher Coach Road into Gilstead before heading across to Five Rise Locks and then down on to the road to Keighley. We take the usual cycle track under the dual carriageway before skirting Cliffe Castle before heading up through quiet residential and semi-rural roads up to Keighley Tarn and its bird inhabitants. We then cross the open moorland past Laycock and Newsholme before reaching Oakworth and our lunch stop.Duly re-energised we will continue down across the River Worth towards Haworth before making for Crossroads and the moorland road to Ryecroft and Harden. We go to Bingley via St Ives Estate and pick up the canal at Dowley Gap for the short section back to Hirst Wood.

We will stop at Millstack Cafe in Oakworth which has both indoor and outdoor seating plus space for bike parking. This is a regular stop that has never let us down. https://www.millstack.co.uk/

Helmets are a must as is some hi-vis outerwear. Make sure you have a spare inner tube at least and that your brakes, tyres etc are in good condition. Check that the British Cycling website has up to date personal and emergency contact details.

We never leave anyone behind
