Starting point

We cross both the canal and river before heading towards Esholt and past Baildon Station. We head up the old favourite, Old Hollins Hill (with a well deserved rest at the top), before going through Guiseley and on towards Yeadon. We follow a narrow road with an open aspect that leads to the airport viewing area before skirting the whole airport and going down Scotland Lane to our café stop. Suitably refreshed, we make our way homewards past Leeds Trinity University aka Trinity & All Saints College and down to the private Woodlands Drive which was the site of Woodlands Orthopaedic Hospital prior to its sale and residential redevelopment. We go past Apperley Bridge Station and briefly on the busy Harrogate Road before crossing the river again and joining the canal towpath at Apperley Bridge. All sections are now open so we make our way back to Hirst Wood.

Shortish and not too hilly ride heading eastwards from Saltaire and skirting Leeds Bradford Airport before returning via Horsforth and Apperley Bridge back to Saltaire.

The outward route is all on roads that are mainly quiet residential or semi-rural. The return route is similar until we reach the private Woodlands Drive before a brief section of main road prior to joining the canal at Apperley Bridge and following it back to Hirst Wood.

We will stop in Horsforth at the nice café we previously patronised - Haus of Coffee.

Please wear a helmet to protect against any misfortunes. Make sure you have the right clothing for whatever the weather choses and you have a spare inner tube.

We never leave anyone behind
