Crossing over Leeds Road we join the Cycle Superhighway that takes us through Bradford and its now excellent traffic free route to join up with Sustrans Route 66 that guides us along ordinary roads to join up with Spen Valley Greenway(SVG) just before Low Moor Station. We leave SVG in Cleckheaton for our café stop situated in the Memorial Garden. We then pass through the small and picturesque villages of Hunsworth and East Bierley before crossing Tong Street to skirt Holme Wood. This takes us to Tyersal, one of the earliest Social Housing provisions in the area before crossing the manual level crossing and heading through Eccleshill to take us back down into Shipley. There are some busy roads but the route does avoid the busy Five Lane Ends roundabout.

Shortish and less hilly ride due south as far as Cleckheaton on Cycle Superhighway, then cycle route to join Spen Valley Greenway before returning via mixed urban and rural roads to the east of Bradford back to Shipley.

The first 10 miles to Cleckheaton are predominantly traffic free with the route back having a mixture of roads, some traffic-free and traffic-lite but also through more built up areas, but these are kept to a minimum.

We will stop at Eve's Café in the Cleckheaton Memorial Park. Please bring cash as has not accepted cards in the past.

Helmets of course but also high-vis garment and weather appropriate kit. Spare inner tube as a minimum.

We never leave anyone behind
