This is an anti-clockwise ride through the dales surrounding Skipton following the River Wharfe for half of the time and we turn back in Threshfield to complete the circuit back to Skipton. It is 32 miles and with 1900ft of climbs though more of an undulating nature.
The majority of the ride is on road with main road exposure kept to a minimum. We also take the canal back into Skipton from Gargarve.
We will follow quiet residential roads from the station, avoiding the busy market-day centre, past the castle as we make towards Embsay and may be fortunate enough to spot a steam train! Passing Bolton Abbey we go through Appletreewick before our lunch stop at the approximate mid-point in Burnsall. We then follow the Wharfe before turning back towards Skipton in Threshfield. Passing through Cracoe, Hetton, Winterburn and Eshton we reach Gargarve for our towpath journey back into Keighley.

We will stop in Burnsall and hopefully find space at Wharfe Tea Rooms though there are alternatives.

Helmets are a must as is some hi-vis outerwear. Make sure you have a spare inner tube at least and that your brakes, tyres etc are in good condition. Check that the British Cycling website has up to date personal and emergency contact details.

We never leave anyone behind
