This is a short ride heading out past the airport and without a refreshment stop as I have a funeral to attend later in the afternoon.
The ride is nearly 19 miles and just under 1500ft of climbs, though we do get the chance to go down Old Hollins Hill for a change.
It is mainly on road, some of which is traffic-lite, apart from the Aireborough Greenway from Yeadon and a section on the canal from Buck Lane to the finish.
We leave Dock Lane and take Thackley and Windhill Old Roads to Apperley Bridge before a brief main road section gets us to Woodlands Drive. At the end of this private road we cross over towards Rawdon and then through Yeadon, going past the Tarn and end of the airport runway before turning back through Carlton into Guiseley. From there we head back to a different part of Yeadon to pick up the Aireborough Greenway, a dedicated cycle path on an old railway, in order to go down Old Hollins Hill and through Esholt. Briefly joining the main road we then drop down Buck Lane to join the canal for a short ride back to Dock Lane.

There will not be a refreshment stop on this shorter ride.

Helmets are a must as is some hi-vis outerwear. Make sure you have a spare inner tube at least and that your brakes, tyres etc are in good condition. Check that the British Cycling website has up to date personal and emergency contact details.

We never leave anyone behind
