Starting point

West Yorkshire

This is a different type of ride that is less strenuous than usual and, rather than being circular, has more of an out and back feel. It will also use the much less well known Spen Valley Ring with its magnificent series of railway arches. We will mainly be riding on dedicated cycle paths or following designated cycle routes. We will take the Cycle Super Highway into and through Bradford before following the Sustrans, now WalkWheelCycle, route to join the Spen Valley Greenway(SVG) at Low Moor. We will leave SVG at Heckmondwike and cross over to the Spen Valley Ring(SVR) which will take us into Cleckheaton and our lunch stop which will be 15 miles into the ride. Eve’s Cafe has always been cash only so please make sure you have some readies. Suitably fed and watered we will cross Cleckheaton to re-join the Spen Valley Greenway and re-join our route back into Bradford and then to Shipley.

Helmets are a must as is some hi-vis outerwear. Make sure you have a spare inner tube at least and that your brakes, tyres etc are in good condition. Check that the British Cycling website has up to date personal and emergency contact details.
