Marsden, Diggle and Delph

From the car park we take good tracks to Diggle and then a meandering route to Delph from where we head to Haigh Gutter at the top of Huddersfield Rd and the single-track over the moor to Marsden. There is a stepped flagstone descent at the end of this section which needs to be taken carefully. Then it's through Marsden and up to another moorland crossing back to the car park.
Approximately 2,700ft of climbing.

A great route if you like moorland riding - there are 2 extended moorland sections. There are some technical sections, but they don't go for too long and can be walked.

Mostly off- road, but there are roads to be negotiated through Marsden.

There will be regular stops and a lunch break somewhere sheltered. There are shops and cafes in Marsden, but I've never stopped there so can't recommend any and I don't know about bike security.

Helmets essential for this route. Advisable to bring a spare inner tube. The moorland sections are very exposed and can be grim in bad weather so definitely bring waterproofs and if possible a spare warm layer.
