Starting from - The start point is the free car park next to Magor Square. You can usually park here but if it's full, there is street parking alongside as well as additional car parks nearby in Withy Close and Sycamore Terrace. Please note, there aren't public toilets here (just inside local cafes) but the Magor services are on your way in. NP26 3HY

The route heads out of Magor and goes past the marsh before turning to go around the back of Undy. Then we climb up along Silurian road before dropping back down, followed by the little bump of Carrow Hill. We then catch our breath with a flatter stretch before the mile long steady climb up Highmoor Hill. Again we are rewarded with a downhill afterwards before a short uphill bit into Caerwent. We ride down through the village and along the cycle path to Crick before following the lanes almost until the garden centre. Then it's a short little sprint along the main road to reach the turning in.
After a well earned rest, we tackle the biggest climb - the couple of miles of the steady route up to Shirenewton. At the top, we get the biggest downhill as a reward and then it's a little up to Llanvair Discoed and a downhill run to Five Lanes. Once across the main road, it's back along and over Carrow Hill before turning to ride along St. Brides valley back into Magor.

A scenic undulating ride through the lanes between Magor and Chepstow

Most of the route is on quiet country lanes with a small section of cycle path on the outbound route.

We are planning to stop at Chepstow garden centre for refreshments. We will also stop halfway up to Shirenewton to have a brief rest and regroup.

Please wear a helmet and bring along a lock and some money for the cafe stop. It is also a good idea to carry a spare tube just in case.

First-timers welcome!
