HA3 0JA

A ride to and through London visiting all major parks with the option of taking the train into and out of London. This is an all-day ride. Please note that the meeting place is Kenton Sainsbury’s, 1 Nash Way, Harrow HA3 0JA. All the main London Parks are included, most of which have cycle paths – Regents P, Victoria P, Queen Elizabeth Olympic P, (Velopark and Velodrome), Canary Wharf/Isle of Dogs, Greenwich P, St James’s P, Green P, Hyde P, Kensington Gardens and Holland P. We will pass many sights of interest. Some walking will be necessary - the foot tunnel at Greenwich and Holland Park for instance. For train assisted ride, meet at 8a.m. outside the Terra-Terra restaurant opposite Finchley Road Station (steps). A return train to Harrow and Wealdstone can be caught from Willesden Junction (lift). We should aim to ride as a compact group and act like a "bus" at traffic lights, and other road intersections. If traffic yields the group should move as one.

The ride into and through London, apart from the odd exception, uses quieter roads, marked cycle ways, parks, a canal towpath and Thames Path south. Much of the ride is flat within central London, but the nature of the route and time on the bike is, in itself, likely to be quite challenging. In central London speeds will be low due to road conditions or restrictions in parks. Traffic is subdued. Quite often there is little traffic other than cyclists or pedestrians. The ride back to Harrow will use the Harrow Road which will be slow, busy and congested in places.

There will be a lunch stop and photo opportunities along the way

Helmets are compulsory for this ride. Carry any repair equipment, bike pumps, snacks, water, spare cash and day-long clothing. Take food with you for lunch or buy along the route.

We never leave anyone behind
