Starting point

Wiltshire
SN5 8RJ

From Freshbrook, we will head westwards, crossing Whitehill Way and riding along Hook Street up to Hook. From Hook we will cycle down to Royal Wootton Bassett, then shortly after the roundabout heading for the town centre, we turn left to bypass the busy centre. We head out of the town towards Broad Town, then turn right on quiet roads to Bushton.

At the crossroads we turn right and then left to travel through Preston to Lyneham. At the roundabout we turn left and then right into the military complex.

After the stop we head back the way we came through Preston, then turn left to take us to Tockenham. We cross the busy A3102 to Tockenham Wick, then descend into the valley, then pass under the railway. We turn right to head towards Royal Wootton Bassett, then turn left for our first climb to Callow Hill.

At the top of the hill we turn right and travel along the B4042 towards Royal Wootton Basset, then turn left briefly onto the B4696 and then right onto Flaxlands for our second climb. At the top of the hill we turn right to Hook and then turn left to ride down into Swindon and back to Freshbrook.

A morning ride into the Wiltshire countryside to the REME museum café at Lyneham.

Most of the route is on quieter traffic roads. There is a short section on a couple of busy roads. The route has a couple of climbs, and we will regroup at the top of each one.

We will stop at REME museum in Lyneham which is on the edge of the former RAF base, which is now any army base.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
