This ride is part of Horwich Ride Social’s 'Winter Miles Summer Smiles' winter cycling campaign. If you complete 4 of our community rides over January and February then you will receive a small gift.

Setting off from Knowle House car park we head up and behind Rivington & Blackrod School, past Rivington Hall Barn and the Lower House Car Park. We then make our way down Sheep House Lane to “The Rivington” and up past Yarrow reservoir. A climb up Moor Road takes us to Jepsons Gate where we will then drop down into Lead Mines Clough. We make our way back along the west side of Upper Rivington Reservoir and towards the end of the ride we have the option of a couple of café stops.

We will be cycling on mostly off road trails with a few short connecting road sections.
This is not a technical ride but does require MTB experience for certain sections as well as a good level of fitness, as there are a couple of notable climbs.

As always on a HRS ride, no helmet, no ride. Please be self sufficient and ensure
you have all the equipment you would need for your own bike for any trailside
repair. Ensure your emergency contact details are upto date on the “Let’s Ride” website and your contact is aware of where you are going.
Please wear/carry appropriate clothing and bring a waterproof, regardless of the weather forecast, just in case. Also bring a snack and liquid refreshments.

If you have not completed a ride participant form previously for one of the HRS rides, please download one from
https://www.horwichridesocial.org/sites/default/files/2024-01/Cycling%20UK%20New%20Club%20Participant%20form%20%281%29.pdf
and email it to [email protected] at least 48 hours before the ride.
Photos will be taken during this ride which will be shared on our social media, if you do not wish your photo to be taken, please advise a ride leader before the ride.
