Erewash Canal to Trent Lock, river Trent until we pick up the Trent and Mersey canal, cafe stop at Swarkstone garden centre,head for Derby along the old canal into Alvaston Park where we join the river Derwent towards Elvaston castle and the Derby canal path. It will be around 30miles and I expect to be back at Sandiacre library around 3pm.

A fabulous ride along the Trent and Mersey canal, stopping at Swarkstone garden centre. I think that the Trent and Mersey canal is beautiful and peaceful.

Canal paths, cycle tracks and quiet roads.

There are a possible 4 cafe stops along the, and time to stop and chat.

I would always advise wearing a cycle helmet. A puncture repair kit and tools, a drink for between the cafe and stops, money for cafe or bring your own like I do! Suitable clothing for the weather on the day.
