Impromptu Summer Ride to Gladstone Park and Little Venice

Friday will be a scorcher and the best way of dealing with it is going out to get some breeze on your face. Now that the days are longer, why not go for a short but sweet bike ride in the evening? A gentle ride in our neighbourhood passing by Gladstone Park, Paddington Recreational Ground, Little Venice and the Grand Union Canal. This is also a great ride for those who would like to build up confidence in traffic as part of a group. We mostly take quiet roads and segregated cycle or shared paths, with the rare busy road to cross.

We start with Gladstone Park, where we lap around some of its shared paths. We then head off to Paddington Recreational Ground using the cycle lane at Carlton Vale, and finally Little Venice where we will have a few options for a beverage break.

We come back to Roundwood Park via the canal towpath, crossing the footbridge to West Kilburn and passing in front of Queen’s Park. We aim to be back by 20.45. Bring your bike lights just in case we run a little late.

IMPORTANT POINTS: * Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. * Make sure that your tyres are pumped and you have a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. * Places are limited and sometimes get booked up, normally with a waiting list. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. * Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. * Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a rain coat just in case.
