Starting point

Lancashire
PR7 2TZ

A brisk road ride mainly on country lanes, shared cycle paths and cycle lanes with some park trails and BUSY ROADS at the start and along the long climb up Parbold Hill.

Our first climb is up the (in)famous Hunters Hill maxing out at 13% then down the long descent that is Stoney Lane & then undulating Lancaster Lane followed by the second climb that is Parbold Hill (max ascent 12%) along with busy traffic alongside but we tackle the hills at our own pace (low granny gears or even single speed if you have legs of steel!) and regroup at the top. (The hills don't always win.)

PLEASE ENSURE YOU CAN RIDE SAFELY AT PACE OF 13 -15 MPH ON FLATTER SECTIONS OF THE ROUTE - AVERAGE SPEED 12-13 MPH - AS THOSE WARM EMPANADAS WON'T WAIT!

From Chorley Train Station we go through Cuerden Valley Park and after Buckshaw Village we drop into Astley Park for those all-butter Chorley Cakes, not forgetting the spiced Chorley Eggs, and a quick tea/coffee from Barrica Wines before exiting to carry on to Parbold to do some proper legwork. After getting our breaths back on top of Parbold Hill, it's downhill (almost) all the way back to Worden Park where the pièce de résistance awaits: Argentine empanadas (obligatory) & wine (optional) at one of my fave eateries El Tano Wines inside Worden Hall. Those who come by train can finish their tour towards Leyland Train Station.
