Starting point

London

This isn’t a long ride, but it takes us to less well-known areas, so it feels a bit of an adventure!

From Ealing, we ride through Hanwell to join the Grand Union Canal at one of its most attractive points, riding up through the Hanwell Flight and past Asylum Dock to Three Bridges. We turn through Glade Park, before crossing the canal at Top Lock and taking our familiar route to Osterley Park.

We have only a brief pause at Osterley before riding on towards Hounslow. We cross Lampton Park and, after a short stretch of busy main road, we reach the surprisingly quiet green space of Hounslow Heath. We cross the Heath on an unsealed track which is stony and uneven in places.

Another short section of main road brings us to the Crane River Park, where we have an easy ride along the river to our refreshment stop at the Shot Tower.

There is a small café van here, selling drinks and a small selection of snacks. Please feel free to bring your own food; we will have a picnic here if the weather is fine.

After refreshments, we continue through the Crane River Park, into Kneller Gardens (possible café stop if the weather is not fine enough for a picnic), then on to Twickenham Junction Rough to reach Twickenham. From here, we return to Ealing via Isleworth, Syon Park, and Brentford.
