The aim is to introduce the extensive cycle network available to residents in Swindon. The series culminates with a Swindon Randonee, where we will circumnavigate Swindon almost exclusively using the cycle path network. Please meet 5 mins before the start outside the entrance to the Grange Community & Leisure Centre, Grange Drive, Swindon. The What 3 Words location is ///corrosive.harps.class Grange Community & Leisure Centre has café facilities, restroom facilities and plenty of free parking. There is a recently installed bicycle service point, for any last minute adjustments.
A traffic free route out to the village of South Martson, passing over the A419 and Bodleian Library. After a short section of quiet roads in the village of South Marston, we will visit the Honda Memorial Garden. Afterwards, we will make our way over to Roves Farm via Nightingale Woods. We will return via bridleways, back to our start point. The route is approximately 8 miles, however subject to weather conditions, the route may be adapted to avoid unsuitable surfaces. The route distance will remain roughly the same.
Riders are requested to wear helmets (mandatory for children). For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. Your ride leader will assist you with any punctures. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days.
We especially welcome newbies!
