Please join me for this ride including the Drws Y Coed pass. We start at Llanberis and head out towards Bontnewydd and Groeslon. Our first challenging climb comes when the route takes us up to Carmel. Heading back down to Penygroes, we head up through the Nantlle Valley and tackle the Drws Y Coed hill climb. Ranked as one of the top hill climbs in North Wales this has an average gradient of 7% over 1.5km, with some parts topping out over 10%. We return to Llanberis via our third and final challenging climb up from Waunfawr through Ceunant.
This ride is weather dependent. We won't ride if there are strong winds (20mph+) or it is pouring with rain.
This ride is 'no frills' as there is NO café stop. We will have some roadside stops to have a drink/snack (bring your own).
Large proportion on A-roads and B-roads, with some country lanes mixed in.
Ideal for Breeze riders who want to challenge themselves and have fun! And those who are new to Breeze rides are very welcome. This ride is classified as ‘challenging’ because there are a number of hills (over 600m ascent) including the Drws Y Coed hill climb, completing the ride at an average pace of approx. 20kph (12mph). Please be sure you are confident that you can keep to this pace before signing up. This is a tough winter ride and should not be underestimated. We ride up hills at our own pace and regroup at the top. We never leave anyone behind.
I always carry extra supplies (just in case!): sweets; water; period products; first aid kit; and puncture repair patches. So please let me know if you ever need anything.
Please do let me know if there’s anything I need to know or can do to help to make this ride more accessible for you.
