Starting point

Greater Manchester
M4 6EZ

We leave Cutting Room Square along Ancoats' cobbled streets, past the Hallé St Peter's concert hall before reaching another historical monument amongst rows of local houses: a stone seat dedicated to Serafino De Felice, a local hero (see photos for details) before heading to Heaton Park. We won't be entering the park grounds as planned as the gates will be closed closed til 3pm due to the Oasis reunion gig taking place the same evening. After arriving at the Sheepfoot Lane entrance, we do a circular around the park's lengthy border towards Middleton & Heywood then up Harry (Heaton) Hill Cycle Way, looping back to Besses O' Th' Barn & Whitefield (where cold products such as fresh bagels, salads & sandwiches can be purchased from Let's Fress Deli) for an alfresco lunch back at Cutting Room Square (optional).

After a short refreshment break we return to Ancoats through Broughton Park & Harpurhey, onto the cycle/pedestrian shared 'river' path inside Moston Vale then through Collyhurst & back to Ancoats, past the tribute to our 1966 World Cup hero!

The ride is classified as Challenging due to the undulating terrain as we enter the "Fabric Zone" from Angel Meadows to Cheetham Hill Rd then on the outskirts of Heaton Park, where continuous climbs, although not that steep, are 1.5 miles' long at one stage.
