Hailey Park to Caerphilly Castle via Rhiwbina Hill and back via Tongwynlais

This is a lovely varied ride from Hailey Park on urban roads, some may be busy, through the suburbs to challenging Rhiwbina Hill. Don't worry we'll stop for a breather and regroup at the top. Then it's on narrow roads though the forest before taking a long descent to cross the A469. A short stretch though Caerphilly suburbs brings us to the Castle, where we'll have a refreshment stop at Caffi Vista, approx 30 min. I plan to sit outside, weather permitting, but you're welcome to sit inside, toilets available.

We'll return via the Penrhos cutting following the old railway line to join the Taff Trail at Taff's Well.

The route is tarmac, mainly roads, but with some shared paths, some of which may be damp after rain or bumpy with tree roots and leaf debris at this time of year, so bear it in mind.

Please bring some money if you would like to buy refreshments, or your own drink/snack. Please also wear a helmet, also bring a spare inner tube, and a bike lock should you wish to sit inside at the cafe.
