Guiseley to Fewston Farm Shop & Café

Turning left out of the car park we head up towards, and join, West Chevin Road and go past Clarion Lodge Campsite which is named after the Clarion Cycling Club formerly based there. This was a network of socialist cycling clubs form the late 1890's which still has a presence in the form of the National Clarion Cycling Club 1895. We cross A660 by bridge and join road into Otley at the mini-roundabout. We cut through the car park and park alongside the the River Wharfe before crossing the river and then turning left up Weston Lane as far as Askwith. We turn right towards Timble and then across the road between Fewston and Swinsty Reservoirs. We head towards Cobby Syke and the Fewston Farm shop and Café. Retracing our steps a short way we then go past the Washburn Heritage Centre and skirt Swinsty Reservoir before heading off towards Beckwithshw. We then loop back towards Lindley Wood Reservoir and crossing the River Washburn before climbing up to Farnley and then crossing the Wharfe and passing back through Otley. We take the East Chevin Road this time and go through Carlton and past the Leeds Bradford Airport viewing area. The final leg of the journey is through Yeadon back to Guiseley.

A figure of eight route from Guiseley out and back through Otley looping round and past Fewston, Swinsty and Lindley Wood Reservoirs. Some challenging climbs rewarded by stunning views and corresponding downhill sections.

The route is all on public roads and most of them are low traffic density.

We will stop at Fewston Farm Shop and Café after 12.5 miles to load up for the remaining 20 miles back to Guiseley.

Helmets very strongly recommended given the undulating terrain. As ever bring a spare inner tube and wear or bring appropriate clothing. Cash or card needed for café stop. Please make sure your own and contact person details are up to date on Let's Ride website.
