We will start the ride from this popular landmark feature which commemorates the Great Yorkshire Way. It was installed in time for stage one of the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire cycle race which used phase two of the link road and passed by the feature en route to the finish in Doncaster town centre. ( see photo above).

There is a free car park by the Y and also parking is available inside the park and ride. The entrance to the car park beside the Y is off the roundabout as if entering the Park & Ride, to the right of the entrance gate.

This ride is suitable for new and returning cyclists trying to build confidence and distance. It is a 12 mile ride, but the pace will be as slow as the slowest rider and there is no pressure to go faster.

We travel along a few quite residential roads to join Rossington Greeway, a traffic free route which joins up with the Bessecar Red Path. Taking us towards Lakeside Lakes. Photo opportunities are abundant on this route of many Lakes as we then ride along shared paths to the Amazon Lakes. The route is mainly flat but there are three small hills. It is absolutely fine to walk these hills until stamina and confidence is built up on hopefully future Breeze rides.

We will enjoy a cafe stop at Anabels overlooking Amazon Lakes. We will be eating outdoors so make sure to have enough layers on to keep you warm when we stop cycling. Please bring your own drinks and food or money or card to purchase fro the cafe.

All the route is tarmacked except for a small stretch of the trail just past B&Q on the way to Amazon Lakes. The surface of this bit of the trail is made up of old bricks and could be a puncture hazard for road bike tyres. So would recommend only coming if your tyres have a good tread. Eg MTB or Off Road Hybrid Tyres.

Always wear an helmet on our Breeze rides where safety is of paramount importance. Bring a bike pump, bike tools and a spare inner tube / puncture repair kit with you too.

We especially welcome newbies!
